About NUS Mawlid
|
The Mawlid/ P.B.U.H is a yearly anchored ad-hoc of the NUS Muslim Society (NUSMS), which strives towards a consistent goal of building a God-conscious society through knowing, loving and emulating our Messenger, Rasulullah ﷺ . The significance of Rasulullah ﷺ could not be emphasized more when believing in him ﷺ is placed in the syahadah (profession/testimony of Tauhid) which is the first of the “Five Pillars of Islam”. Various sayings of Rasulullah s.a.w also mentioned the necessity of loving him ﷺ , such that narrated by Anas r.a : The Prophet said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind." (Bukhari Volume 001, Book 002, Hadith Number 014).
With these, undergraduates who resonate the calling of spreading knowledge and loving Rasulullah ﷺ volunteered and come together to form a team to spearhead the ad-hoc group for the academic year. Through the years, the ad-hoc group has evolved in response to the challenges encountered, from a one-off recitation of traditional Mawlid text to a series of programmes to reach out and engage the wider community within, and outside NUS. This constant development of the ad hoc is praiseworthy and much needed in an age of much confusion. While some programmes differ from year to year, the essence of mawlid and the intention of the ad-hoc remains consistent, and that is critical to ensure we are steadfast on the noble way. |
